James II Four Pence
- 1685 to 1688
This
is the first James I coin which I have found. He was the king
who fled into exile. He had tried to restore Catholicism into
England and when his wife Mary gave birth to a son (allegedly)
he had his catholic heir. The powerful statesmen of England
invited William of Orange to take the job. It was agreed that
William should rule England with his wife Mary, the daughter
of James I - James II died in exile in France aged 77 years.
