Republican Coin -
116 to 115 BC
Another field and another very
lucky find. I got the low battery signal so started back to
the car. The battery gave a last squeak. I dug the spot and
out came a Republican coin 116/115 BC, Monyer Domitius helmeted
figure of Roma.
I should think it belonged to
an officer and I don't imagine he would have been happy with
the loss when he found out about it and no doubt some poor
soul would suffer from his anger for the next day or two.
Or it could have been a lucky coin his mother gave him before
he set sail for this heathen land. Whatever! He lost it, I
found it and may he rest in peace now.
